Jordan’s Baby Shower

{ 2 comments }

Last month I got to throw my very first baby shower for my dear friend Jordan who is mega preggo and ready to pop any day now.

It was so much fun, and a really good learning experience. As in, I may or may not be a perfectionist who has a hard time delegating and may or may not have had a total freakout about three hours before the shower. Yeah, it wasn’t pretty. BUT, it made me that much more confident in my decision to hire Shannon as my DOC for the wedding. I know now that I have to have someone around to help me with last minute tasks so I don’t end up in tears at my sewing machine in my wedding dress two hours before the ceremony. Nevertheless, all’s well that ends well right? And the shower definitely went very very well

We had the shower at the coffeeshop in Little Rock where our friend Rachel works. They are closed on Sunday, so we had the whole place to ourselves.

Some of the decorations: I made paper pinwheels, cupcake flags, and fabric bunting.

Instead of cheesy shower games I had everyone paint onesies for Jordan to keep. I was a little worried about this activity, but it ended up being really fun. I sketched a bunch of designs and then cut them out of freezer paper with the ol’ exacto knife. (side note: if you’ve never played with freezer paper stenciling, you’re missing out. I’m pretty much obsessed) I ironed the stencils to a bunch of plain white onesies before the shower. Everyone got to pick a design and just fill in the stencil with fabric paint. After you’re done, you just peel off the freezer paper and voilà, super cute handpainted onesie. It’s a lot less pressure on everyone to be creative because they don’t have to create their own design, but at the same time you can customize them as much as you want.

Jordan is getting her masters in English right now, and needless to say, loves her some books. I included a note with every invitation instructing each guest to bring their favorite children’s book to start baby Chase’s library along with a sticker book plate for them to fill out and place inside the cover of the book so Jordan and Chase will know who brought each book. Everyone did a good job of keeping the books a surprise to Jordan and I think she really loved them.It was so fun to spend time with old friends that I never get to see anymore, and I absolutely can’t wait to meet baby Chase!
Next up, Christmas recaps & a wedding planning update
