Even though I didn’t have the day off from work (what’s up with that? I practically work for the city) I did get to celebrate Veterans Day yesterday by watching Fayetteville’s Veterans Day Parade with a few of my co-workers.
While I definitely have my own political issues with certain areas of our government and military, I have immense respect for all of the men and women who have served our country. Veteran ceremonies and parades always make me a little teary-eyed. Both of my grandfathers, my father-in-law, and several of my uncles are veterans and I am so proud of them all.
This is my maternal grandfather in 1942. How handsome was he? He was quite the rebel and has some really funny stories from the war.
This was my paternal grandfather-my Paw-Paw- who was in the army from 1941-1945. I miss him very much.

In other news, our home inspection was today and the inspector said everything looked great! We’re slowly crossing things off of the list to home-ownership. I plan to spend the weekend cleaning my disaster of a house, packing, going for my last long run before next week’s half marathon, and, of course, working on lots of hand-made presents for my nephew. What are your weekend plans?
