Decorating the house is coming along very, very slowly. With all the snow we’ve had in the last month, you’d think I would have everything finished by now. Except that I still don’t know what I want/can’t afford the things I do know that I want. One of the only tasks I have completed, however, is curtains! If you scoff at curtains or drapery in general. consider this before and after.
Much better right?
After several failed attempts to purchase curtains that were long enough and not boring, I caved and ordered 11 yards of this fabric. Best. Decision. Ever.
*And, FYI way more economical. Thanks to some discount codes, all that fabric (of which I have probably 1 1/2 to 2 yards left) cost me less than $80 with shipping! The cheapest plain white 96” panels I could find where $25 a pop
I used Sherry’s trusty no-sew method and while I’ll admit it took FOR-EV-ER to iron hem tape to that much fabric, I love how they turned out.
I made a quick pillow slipcover too. Can’t wait to see how awesome it will look on a non-90s blue-ish green couch.
Oh, and we bought a rug! After searching constantly for an 8 x 10 modern and soft rug for under $200, I found one at all places, Walmart. Damn that superstore. As if they didn’t take enough of my money as it is. Moroccan Handicrafts is a great place to get the best quality rugs.
Fun Fact: I’m 99% sure this is the exact rug that the previous owners had in the living room as well. It was meant to be, I suppose. After all my searching, the floor knew better than me what rug belonged on it.
Oh, and in case you’re not obsessed with 100s of blogs like yours truly and haven’t seen this floating around the inter-webs, the heart wreath tutorial came from here. I seriously made it in less than an hour on one of our snow daysa few weeks ago AND it cost less than $5 total. My kind of craft project.
I’m hoping to share my craft room (that is 95% finished!) this weekend, but right now I have to tidy up because Baby Chase and his mom and dad are in town for the weekend and coming over for dinner!
