As you may remember, last Tuesday Jacob, my sister, her boyfriend and I drove 14 hours overnight to Michigan to get here:
This is the house my grandfather built over 50 years ago. This is the house where my mom and her brothers and sisters grew up. This is the house where I spent countless summers reading books under the big tree on the side yard. This is the house where I learned to play croquet and bocce ball and countless card games.
This house is one of my favorite places in the world.
My grandparents live in an adorable little village just outside of Lansing. Based around a few small mom-and-pop businesses, the town still has most of its turn-of-the-century architecture on the ‘downtown’ Main Street.
Good old pizza and pop.
I was excited to show Jacob a place that I’ve always held so dear.
My handsome grandfather and all his World War II regalia
My handsome husband and all his plaid
Next I’ll show you another one of my favorite Michigan places
Hint: it involves Christmas and bratwurst!
