San Antonio: Morning and Night

Happy First Day of Summer! How appropriate that I’m back with more photos from my sweltering trip to San Antonio.

After Sea World and dinner with some new friends, we walked one of the girls to her hotel and were surprised to see a familiar landmark across the street.

The Alamo is pretty deserted at midnight. Who would have thought.

The next morning I joined a group for a 7 a.m. walking tour of the city.

My hotel was right on the Riverwalk and our tour guide Mickey led us along the river.

It was really neat to see the city so quiet and deserted in the morning.

That evening, after the conference sessions for the day were over,  everyone hopped on buses to be dropped off at Market Square.

We walked down the block for a cocktail reception at the famous mexican restaurant Mi Tierra.

Mi Tierra has been open for 70 years. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day and has only closed for three half days since opening in 1941.

Festive is an understatement. Such a fun place.

Even Bill Clinton loves Mi Tierra.

The reception was so fun and the appetizers were so delicious that we seriously debated ditching our dinner plans to keep hanging out at Mi Tierra. I’m glad I didn’t, because I ended up having a wonderful experience at Bohanan’s.

I’ll be back next time with pics of the Alamo (in the daytime), a river barge tour and the beautiful arts village, La Villita
