As you probably know (and as I mentioned yesterday) this weekend was the start of college football season. In the South, football is more than just a weekly game. It is an all-day event. Students often start camping outside of the stadium days for days beforehand. Tailgaters travel from afar to set up their grills and coolers by sunrise. Girls spend weeks looking for the perfect outfit.
Admittedly, I’m not one to bust out the heels and cocktail dresses for a football game. I do, however, like to find cute outfits that are dressier than jeans and a t-shirt as well as budget-friendly. Last year I showed you guys a dress I made, and this year I thought I’d post my favorite game day outfits and accessories.
This week I wore:
A maxi dress that I made using this tutorial from Sweet Verbana.
Seriously, this was the easiest thing I’ve ever sewn. The whole think took maybe thirty minutes (plus the time to wash and dry) and is incredibly comfortable.
I actually planned to dye white jersey material like she did, but was pleasantly surprised to find the perfect shade of red jersey knit on sale at JoAnn’s Fabric.
I also wore a vintage oversized button
and this Razorback themed cuff bracelet that I made last year (maybe even the year before?).
It’s just Razorback fabric mod-podged onto a plastic bracelet and lined with leather scraps. Easy peasy.
Oh, and I painted and embellished some red Toms for my mom. I’m going to add Razorbacks to the tops as well.
I painted mine too, but they’re not quite finished yet. I’ll post pictures with the finished product.
Here’s the rest of the fam’s gameday attire.
For this week’s outfit I’m attempting to tackle a shirt alteration, so we’ll see how that goes. I’ll keep you posted.
