Can you believe that today is Day 11 of 12 Days of Christmas posts? Or that tomorrow is Christmas Eve? Home stretch, people.
Every fall in Fayetteville, city workers spend almost two months hanging half a million Christmas lights on the Downtown Square for the month-long festival known as The Lights of the Ozarks. One of my favorite parts of working on the Square is seeing the Square lit in Christmas lights as I leave the office each evening in December.
In addition to the lights, there are horse-drawn carriage rides, live choirs, camel rides, pony rides, hot chocolate and Santa and his reindeer.
Jacob and I always make it a point to come a few times while the lights are up and this year we came on birthday with my sister and her fiancé before going to dinner to celebrate. Yes, fiancé! My sister and Ty got engaged the day before my birthday so we had two reasons for a special night out.
Dorks. Happily married, but dorks.
She’s going to kill me for posting this one.
YES.
And here’s a little video I made for work that gives you a better idea of how breathtaking the lights really are.
To put on my tourism hat for a moment (although I genuinely do love the lights), if you ever find yourself in Fayetteville, Arkansas, from late November to New Year’s Eve I definitely recommend stopping by the Downtown Square to see the Lights of the Ozarks.
One day to go!
