It’s Day 4 of 12 Days of Christmas posts and today I’m sharing some of my favorite Christmas traditions.
Each year on the Sunday after Thanksgiving, Jacob and I buy our Christmas tree. It’s always a Frasier Fir and we always go to the same Lowe’s in town. One year it started snowing as we were outside choosing which one we wanted (we live in Arkansas after all- it was a big deal).
As we are decorating our tree and the rest of the house, we listen to Christmas records on the record player. We’ve got quite the collection ranging from The Carpenters to Frank Sinatra.
Jacob and I always make peppermint hot chocolate while watching Polar Express during our annual Christmas movie countdown.
I may not be Catholic, but we always go to Christmas eve mass with Jacob’s parents
On Christmas morning my mom always has a yummy breakfast cooking in the oven while we open presents. When we were little it was cinnamon rolls and now it is usually breakfast casserole.
On Christmas afternoon, we play Dirty Santa with Jacob’s family at his parent’s house. Shenanigans are guaranteed to ensue.
My mom also puts a book of life savers in each of our stockings to this day. I don’t even think any of us like them, it’s just, you guessed it, tradition. Does anyone else still get these things?
What are your Christmas traditions?
