A year ago yesterday we became homeowners.
After a month and a half of searching, the house we ended up buying was the first one I saw online. We barely scraped enough money together for the down payment. We had a garage sale, we stopped eating out, I did freelance work on the side. It was hard. And completely worth it. We left the title company with keys to our first home and around $200 to our name. We spent our first night in the house on an air mattress in the living room because we were too excited to wait until moving day. It was terrifying and exciting at the same time.
Since that day, we’ve become ‘Aunt Jessi’ and ‘Uncle Jacob’
we’ve planted a garden,
and shared countless adventures and memories.
It’s been a great year and the house has proven to be a wonderful home. It’s nowhere near fully decorated, but I’ve made some progress and it certainly feels like ‘ours.’
I love my craft room
and Jacob loves his office
Lois loves the couch.
And the living room rug. And our bed. And the guest bed. Pretty much anywhere she can lay down. . .
Did you know we almost moved a few months ago? An opportunity came along that we almost couldn’t pass up. I was sick thinking about leaving this house. I know it’s just a material thing, but it is so cozy and perfect for us that I’m really glad we were able to stay.
I have several rooms left on the ol’ house tour to show you after the holidays, but let’s focus on surviving Christmas first, shall we?
Happy First Anniversary little house!
Here’s to many more years and many more memories!
