Yesterday, I showed you all the decorations my sister-in-law Sommer and I made for my nephew’s Sesame Street-themed first birthday party, and today I’m back with pictures of the party and the birthday boy himself.
Mom, dad and the handsome birthday boy.
I managed to snap a few photos of people, but didn’t get one of every one. Unfortunately, Maddox came down with hand-foot-mouth syndrome (?? is that what you call it) a few days before and several of his daycare buddies caught it too so they had to miss the festivities.
Why yes, that fellow with the giant beard is my husband. Thanks for noticing. But seriously, the beard is out of control.
At one point we snuck the little man outside and I snapped a few family portraits.
Then it was time for presents
If you’ve ever been to a one-year-old’s birthday party, you know this is the standard gift scene. Mom and dad unwrap the presents and the baby is usually distracted by a box or random object. Always hilarious and adorable.
Seriously, how precious is he?
Maddox got a ton of great gifts. Although I do have to say the Sesame Street ball pit from Aunt Jessi and Uncle Jacob was totally the best in my opinion.
After presents we took a few family photos.
Pretty soon it was time for cake!
Despite almost sticking his entire face in the thing, Maddox had no desire to eat any of it.
He did, however, find it fun to smash in his hands.
After such a fun party, the little guy was pretty exhausted.
But I think that’s a sign of a successful party.
It’s so hard to believe that just a year ago, he was a tiny baby and now he’s practically running around.
Look at those teeth! So freaking cute.
