The real reason we were in Michigan two weeks ago was for my grandmother’s 90th birthday party.
My mom grew up in Michigan (in the very same house my grandma still lives in, actually) and she and all of her siblings and many other family members made the trip to Lansing to celebrate my grandma’s monumental birthday.
My aunt and I took care of making the decorations. I made the gold banner at the top of the post out of shimmery scrapbook paper. I also made the centerpieces above with vases and flowers from the dollar store. I also designed a banner and yard sign.
I am always amazed at how far people travel to visit my sweet family. When my grandfather passed away in December, so many relatives and friends drove hours to pay their condolences and give their sympathy to my grandmother. Ten months later, the same group made the journey to celebrate her 90th birthday.
Can you believe she is ninety years old? I can only hope I inherited some of those wrinkle-resisting genes.
Oh, these two.
You have to love meatballs to be welcomed into this family.
It was a chilly day, but I forced everyone outside at one point for a family photo.
My mom and her brothers and sister
All of the Cradit cousins
It was a great day and I was so overwhelmed with the love and support for my sweet grandmother. I’m pretty sure she has more friends at 90 then I do at 25.
Happy Birthday Grandma!
We love you and can’t wait to throw you an even bigger 100th birthday party!
