Belated Blog Tour

I’m the worst. A few weeks ago, my dear friend Alex asked me to be part of a blog tour.

I agreed, wrote my post that was supposed to go up on Monday, and scheduled it for NEXT Monday. Which is basically a perfect example of how my brain is functioning these days. HASHTAG I NEED A VACATION.

Anyway, the idea of the blog tour is to get bloggers talking about their personal writing process.

1) What am I working on?

Professionally, ‘writer’ is one of the many hats I wear. This is an extremely busy time of the year at my job as we are getting ready to launch spring/summer events and reprint our annual brochures and visitor guides (so. much. editing.). Which means – – personal blogging has taken a back seat lately. We got rid of cable in December, and I vowed to spend more time crafting and blogging instead of watching television. Well, I’m proud to say that I’ve gotten back into my craft room, I just haven’t bothered to take any photos and share on this space.
2) How does my work differ from others of its genre?

Hmmrph. I don’t know how to answer this one. When I started this blog 5 (FIVE!!) years ago, I just wanted to share my process of finding a job post-college with family and perhaps a few friends. Over the years, I’ve shared a fair amount of crafts, party details, and tutorials, but I also use this blog as a diary of our travels and daily happenings. So basically, my work is different because it’s about me. And let’s be honest, I’m a little different ;)
3) Why do I write what I do?

I have always loved to write. I’m super lucky that I get paid to write at my day job, but there’s something so freeing and inspirational about an outlet where I can write whatever I please. I have many half-finished essays saved in my drafts folder that never get published, but sometimes that can be just as therapeutic.
4) How does your writing process work?

Whenever I help host a party or take a trip and remember to lug out the big camera, a blog post usually follows. Some posts are not so second nature and come from my lifelong love of writing boring essays and English papers. Kidding. Kind of. Usually, when an idea for a post strikes, I will start a note in my phone for later or leave myself a audio message (man, I’ve got some doozies saved). I like to write late at night to the lullaby of classical music reality television.

You’re supposed to have other bloggers continue the tour, but I’m the worst (see above) and, you know, didn’t.

Have a great weekend, friends!
