Baby Josie’s Pretty Purple Shower

I recently got to co-host a baby shower for our dear friends Autumn and Wes and their soon-to-be baby girl Josie. We designed the invitations and the party decorations to match Josie’s purple bedding.

I made a quick garland out of Josie’s bedding fabric and some purple tissue poufs to hang for decorations.

How cute is that chevron burlap wreath that Ladatha, one of the other hostesses, made? autumn_baby_shower-6 autumn_baby_shower-7

I also designed food labels to match the invitations. All of the food was so beautiful and delicious.

Almost too pretty to eat. Almost. autumn_baby_shower-8

I mean, c’mon. That cake is adorable.

The weather didn’t exactly cooperate but Autumn still had a great shower despite the pouring rain.

Let’s just say that Baby Josie is already spoiled and she isn’t even here yet ;)

Autumn and Wes have two wiener dogs and when I saw this pattern, I knew it would make the perfect gift for Josie.

I ordered a yard of the fabric that Autumn used for the bedding and embroidered a matching bone out of wool felt.

I also whipped up a few flannel-backed burp cloths and a framed print that I forget to photograph.

I have so many friends that are either getting married or having babies these days that buying big registry gifts for each one gets very pricey very quickly. Homemade gifts are fun to make and easier on the ol’ budget.

I’m so glad I was able to spend time with Autumn before the baby gets here. You guys know I love a good themed party, and this one was no exception. I really enjoyed planning such a cute shower with all of the other sweet hostesses.

We can’t wait to meet you Josie!

Showering Baby Maddox: Games, Guests and Gifts

Happy Friday! We’re currently driving to Little Rock to spend the weekend. I’m helping throw a bridal shower for my friend Autumn at my sister-in-law’s house on Sunday. I worked all week on a bunch of, you guessed it, decorations.

Speaking of showers, let’s finish the recap of my nephew’s baby shower, shall we?

After the decorations and buffet were assembled, guests started to arrive.

We ate and played the game where you guess how far around the mother-to-be’s belly is. Everyone got a piece of crepe paper that they used to make their estimate, and Sommer went around the room to get measured.

I did not win this game. In fact, I used my own belly circumference as a guideline and my paper was way too long. Talk about taking a hit to the ol’ self esteem.  ruler4

Just right. We have a winner. Actually, we had two people who guessed correctly.

We also played the game where a little plastic baby was hidden in one of the mini cupcakes, and whoever found it won a prize. Unfortunately, no one initially found the baby despite total desecration of the cupcake platter.

We may have resorted to some not so sneaky detective work to trick Sommer into finally finding the baby. . . sommer_baby

And of course there were lots and lots of presents to be opened gifts3 gifts8gifts4  gifts6 gifts7   gifts10  gifts12

It was awesome to meet all of Sommer’s co-workers and friends.
Maddox will be here before we know it to enjoy all of his loot!
